Blood biomarkers may spot hidden brain injuries after mild head trauma
NCT ID NCT02639923
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study looked at whether certain molecules in the blood, called micro RNAs, can help tell apart people with mild head injuries who have brain damage visible on scans from those who don't. Researchers measured these molecules in 155 adults within 6 hours of injury. The goal was to see if these markers could improve how doctors diagnose and manage mild traumatic brain injury.
