Could a common steroid boost survival after major stroke?
NCT ID NCT07202143
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether adding the steroid methylprednisolone to standard clot-removal treatment helps people who have had a severe stroke with a large area of brain damage and low immune function. About 200 adults will receive either the steroid or a placebo within 24 hours of their stroke. The goal is to see if the steroid improves survival and reduces disability 90 days later.
