Could a painkiller boost chemo for tough colorectal cancers?

NCT ID NCT05212012

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This early-stage trial tests whether adding D,L-methadone (a pain medication) to standard chemotherapy (mFOLFOX6) can help control advanced colorectal cancer that has stopped responding to other treatments. The study involves 11 participants and aims to find the safest dose and measure how well the combination works at stopping tumor growth for at least 12 weeks. It is not a cure, but a way to potentially improve disease control in a difficult-to-treat cancer.
