Common diabetes drug could help spinal injury patients walk again

NCT ID NCT07272967

Summary

This study is testing whether metformin, a common diabetes medication, can help people recover from recent spinal cord injuries. Researchers want to see if the drug can reduce harmful scar tissue formation at the injury site, potentially improving movement and reducing pain. The trial will involve 34 adults who recently suffered spinal injuries, comparing those receiving metformin to those receiving a placebo.
