Common diabetes drug tested to stop leukemia from coming back

NCT ID NCT07188740

Summary

This study is testing if metformin, a common diabetes medication, can reduce the level of a specific genetic mutation found in some patients with acute leukemia who are currently in remission. The goal is to see if lowering this mutation can help prevent the cancer from returning. About 30 patients will take metformin pills daily for six months while doctors monitor their blood for changes in the mutation and track their health.
