Common drugs tested in bold bid to starve head & neck cancer

NCT ID NCT03076281

Summary

This study tested whether two existing, common drugs—metformin (for diabetes) and doxycycline (an antibiotic)—could help control head and neck cancer before surgery. The goal was to see if these drugs could change the environment around the cancer cells to make treatment more effective. Only 7 patients were enrolled before the trial was stopped early.
