Sock it to foot pain: custom inserts may offer relief for metatarsalgia

NCT ID NCT06534073

First seen May 06, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether custom-made, 3D-printed inserts built into socks can reduce pain from metatarsalgia, a common cause of forefoot pain in older women. Researchers will design personalized inserts based on each participant's foot pressure patterns and compare them to standard insoles and removable pads over six months. The goal is to find a convenient, everyday solution that improves pain, quality of life, and physical activity.
