Mesh shield stops hernias before they start
NCT ID NCT07433439
Summary
This study tested whether placing a supportive mesh during the initial closure of a major abdominal incision could prevent hernias from forming later. It involved 110 adults at high risk for hernias who were undergoing planned liver or bile duct surgery. Researchers compared hernia rates over two years between patients who received the mesh and those who did not.
