Mesh fails to prevent hernias in aneurysm patients

NCT ID NCT07416422

First seen Feb 23, 2026 · Last updated Jun 06, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looked at whether placing a mesh during abdominal aortic aneurysm repair could prevent incisional hernias later on. Fifty patients were split into two groups: one got mesh plus standard closure, the other got standard closure alone. After following them for up to two years, researchers found no clear difference in hernia rates between the groups.
