New combo treatment tested to shrink skin cancer before surgery

NCT ID NCT05594290

Summary

This study is testing whether a short, one-cycle course of combined chemotherapy and immunotherapy given before surgery can help treat Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare and aggressive skin cancer. It involves 36 adults with operable cancer who have not had prior systemic treatment. The main goal is to see if this approach can completely eliminate the cancer cells in the removed tumor.
