Peppermint power: new colon rinse could boost cancer detection

NCT ID NCT07501975

First seen Apr 03, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests a special rinse (menthol plus simethicone) during colonoscopy to reduce muscle spasms and clear foam, making it easier for doctors to see polyps. About 500 adults getting a colonoscopy will be randomly assigned to receive the rinse or standard care. The goal is to see if the rinse helps find more adenomas (precancerous growths) and improves patient comfort.
