Mind over ankle: new therapy aims to conquer fear of movement

NCT ID NCT07237581

Summary

This small, completed pilot study tested if adding psychological techniques to standard physical therapy helps people with chronic ankle instability. 36 participants were randomly assigned to receive either the combined mental-physical therapy or just a home exercise program. The main goal was to see if the combined approach was practical to deliver and if it could reduce fear of movement and improve confidence, activity, and ankle function over three weeks.
