New program aims to break the 'Revolving Door' of mental health hospital readmissions
NCT ID NCT07339462
Summary
This study is testing a new support program designed to help people with severe mental illness, like schizophrenia or severe depression, after they leave the hospital. The program provides extra training for healthcare workers, better referrals, and home visits to see if it can help people stay well in their communities and avoid being readmitted to the hospital. Researchers in South Africa are working with 86 participants to see if this approach is practical and helpful in a low-resource setting.
