Sleep hormone may boost fertility in women with low egg reserve

NCT ID NCT07318974

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether taking melatonin for 4 weeks before egg retrieval can improve egg quality and pregnancy rates in women with diminished ovarian reserve (low egg supply) who are undergoing IVF with ICSI. The trial compares melatonin to a placebo in 64 women to see if the antioxidant protects eggs from damage. If successful, melatonin could offer a simple, low-cost way to improve fertility outcomes.
