Can a sleep hormone calm kids waking from surgery?
NCT ID NCT07375342
Summary
This study is testing if giving children melatonin before tonsillectomy surgery helps prevent them from becoming agitated and distressed when they wake up from anesthesia. Researchers will compare melatonin to a placebo (a dummy pill) in 120 children. The main goal is to see if melatonin safely reduces this common post-surgery agitation and improves recovery.
