New PET scan tracks immune cells in melanoma patients
NCT ID NCT05279027
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This early-phase study tested a special PET/CT scan that uses a tracer to detect immune cells (CD8+ T cells) in tumors. Six adults with advanced melanoma who were also on immunotherapy and hydroxychloroquine received the scan before and after treatment. The goal was to see if changes in the scan could predict how well the cancer responds to therapy. This was a small, exploratory study focused on measuring immune activity, not on treating the disease directly.
