Brain radiation boost may improve melanoma treatment, new trial investigates
NCT ID NCT03340129
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study compares two treatments for people with advanced melanoma that has spread to the brain. One group gets standard immunotherapy drugs (ipilimumab and nivolumab) alone, while the other group also receives targeted radiation to brain tumors. The goal is to see if adding radiation helps control the disease and reduces deaths from brain-related causes. About 218 adults with untreated brain metastases are being recruited.
