New gel aims to reduce painful scarring after back surgery

Summary

This study compares two gels, MegaShield-SP and Guardix-SP Plus, applied during spine surgery to prevent scar tissue from forming. About 80 adults aged 20 to 70 with a herniated disc or spinal stenosis will receive one of the gels. The main goal is to see which gel leads to less scarring on MRI and better pain and function scores.
