Ancient meditation secrets put to the scientific test

NCT ID NCT05317754

Summary

This study aims to scientifically test three lesser-known meditation techniques from Tibetan Buddhist, Zen Buddhist, and Toltec traditions, comparing them to standard mindful breathing. It involves 240 healthy adults with meditation experience to see which practices best improve happiness, mindfulness, compassion, and a sense of spiritual connection. This is the first major trial to explore these specific 'deconstructive' meditation methods, which aim to help people let go of unhelpful thought patterns.
