Can chaplains ease Veterans' guilt and shame? new study aims to find out
NCT ID NCT07579143
First seen May 19, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study tests whether a program led by VA chaplains can help veterans struggling with moral injury—feelings of guilt, shame, and isolation after traumatic events. Twenty veterans receiving mental health care will attend up to 12 sessions focused on forgiveness and building community connections. The goal is to see if veterans find the program helpful and complete it, not to compare it with other treatments.
