Scientists map how braces reshape your face

NCT ID NCT06246656

Summary

This study aims to measure precisely how a common orthodontic procedure—widening a narrow upper jaw—changes both the underlying bone and the overlying soft tissues like the nose. Researchers will track these changes in 38 adolescent and young adult patients (ages 12-26) who are getting braces and need this expansion. They will use custom 3D-printed appliances and advanced 3D scans to take detailed before-and-after measurements.
