Heart drug put to the test: can it remodel a thickened heart?

Summary
This study is testing if the drug mavacamten can improve the physical structure of the heart in adults with a condition called obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM), where the heart muscle is abnormally thick. Researchers will use special heart MRI scans to measure changes in the size and thickness of the heart's main pumping chamber and an upper chamber over 48 weeks. The goal is to see if the drug helps reverse some of the heart's abnormal thickening and enlargement caused by the disease.
