Brain training meets math tutoring: new study for struggling first graders

NCT ID NCT07220746

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding working memory training to math tutoring helps first graders who struggle with math more than tutoring alone. About 300 children from Nashville schools will be placed into one of three groups: math tutoring plus memory training, math tutoring plus reading practice, or regular school math. The goal is to see if memory training boosts math skills and if learning math also improves memory.
