Ethiopian villages test if neighbor-led counseling boosts mom and baby health

Summary

This study tests whether training local support groups to counsel pregnant women can improve health and nutrition for mothers and children in Northwest Ethiopia. About 700 pregnant women will receive either standard care or extra home counseling from trained community members. Researchers will measure how many women use health services, their nutritional status, and rates of depression.
