Massage may boost breast milk in C-Section moms, study says

NCT ID NCT07077655

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether two simple massage techniques—the Marmet technique and oxytocin massage—can increase breast milk production in first-time mothers who had a C-section. 123 women will be randomly assigned to receive one of the massages or a light touch (placebo). Researchers will measure milk volume and anxiety levels before and after the intervention. The goal is to find a natural, drug-free way to support breastfeeding after cesarean delivery.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Marmet technique and oxytocin massage

What this could lead to

If effective, these simple massage techniques could help new mothers produce more breast milk after a C-section, reducing anxiety and supporting breastfeeding.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study with only 123 participants. The techniques may not significantly increase milk volume, and results may not apply to all mothers.
