Summary

Researchers are testing a program called Mama Empoderada (Mom Power) for migrant mothers with young children in Tijuana. The program combines group sessions on parenting skills, social support, and self-care, along with individual sessions to connect families to resources. This pilot study will measure whether the program reduces symptoms of depression, anxiety, and parental stress compared to usual support.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Mama Empoderada (Mom Power), a group-based mental health and parenting support program
What this could lead to
If it works, this program could offer a practical way to prevent depression and anxiety in migrant mothers while supporting positive parenting in humanitarian settings.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot study, so results may not apply broadly. The program requires time and commitment, and its benefits may not last beyond the sessions.
