Malnutrition may worsen surgery outcomes for swallowing disorder patients

Summary

This study looks at how being malnourished affects breathing and kidney health in people having a procedure called POEM for achalasia (a swallowing problem). About 60 adults aged 18-80 will take part. Researchers will measure carbon dioxide levels and kidney function during and after surgery to see if malnutrition leads to more complications.
