ICU magnesium puzzle: which treatment strategy saves more lives?
NCT ID NCT07380542
Summary
This study looked back at data from over 12,800 ICU patients with low magnesium levels to compare three treatment approaches: never giving magnesium, always giving it daily, or only giving it when daily tests show it's low. The goal was to determine which strategy is safest and most effective at reducing the risk of death within 28 days for these critically ill patients. Researchers analyzed past medical records to mimic a clinical trial and find the best practice.
