Simple IV solution could protect ICU Patients' hearts

NCT ID NCT05829317

Summary

This study is testing whether giving magnesium through an IV can prevent critically ill patients from developing dangerous irregular heartbeats while in intensive care. Researchers will compare magnesium injections to a placebo in 200 ICU patients to see if this approach is practical for a larger future trial. The goal is to prevent new heart rhythm problems that commonly occur during serious illness.
