First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding magnesium sulfate to a standard lidocaine injection provides better pain relief and muscle function for people with chronic jaw muscle pain (myofascial pain dysfunction syndrome). About 28 adults with active trigger points will receive either lidocaine alone or lidocaine plus magnesium. Pain and muscle activity are measured using a pain scale and muscle electrical readings.
