Magnet surgery safety check: will new device reduce bowel blockages?
NCT ID NCT06928545
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study follows 106 people who had weight-loss surgery using the MagDI system, a device that uses magnets to create a new connection between parts of the intestine. The main goal is to see how often internal hernias or bowel blockages happen within one year after surgery. Researchers will compare these results to earlier studies to check if the device is safe.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
MagDI System (magnetic device for creating intestinal connections)
What this could lead to
If successful, this registry could confirm that the MagDI system is as safe as traditional surgical methods for creating intestinal connections in weight-loss surgery.
What could go wrong
This is an observational registry, not a controlled trial, so it cannot prove the device causes or prevents complications. Results may not apply to all patients.
