New surgical trick may fix stubborn eye holes
NCT ID NCT02946372
First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tested a new surgical technique for people with macular holes (a small gap in the center of the eye's retina) that did not close after previous surgery. The procedure moves a thin membrane from the retina to cover the hole. The study included 16 adults who had at least one prior surgery. The main goal was to see if the technique is possible and safe, not to cure the condition permanently.
