Summary

This study tested whether an investigational drug called LX9211 could safely reduce the chronic nerve pain that persists after a shingles rash heals, known as postherpetic neuralgia. About 80 adults with moderate to severe pain for at least 3 months received either the drug or a placebo for 11 weeks. Researchers measured changes in daily pain scores and how much the pain interfered with sleep and daily activities.
