ER ultrasound uncovers hidden heart risk in high blood pressure patients

NCT ID NCT05730309

First seen Jun 02, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study looked at 165 emergency room patients with high blood pressure to see how many had undiagnosed left ventricular hypertrophy (a thickening of the heart muscle). Researchers used a portable ultrasound to detect the condition and then measured how often patients followed up with a doctor after being told about it. The goal was to understand disparities in diagnosis and treatment, and to build a database for future AI tools.
