New balloon treatment aims to keep dialysis lifelines flowing

NCT ID NCT03506308

First seen Mar 18, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study looks at a special balloon coated with medicine that is used to open up blocked dialysis fistulas (the blood vessels used for dialysis). The goal is to see if the balloon helps the fistula stay open longer without needing another procedure. About 213 people took part, and researchers tracked how long the treated area remained open and if any serious problems occurred within 30 days.
