First seen Jan 22, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tested whether a daily supplement called Lutemax 2020 (containing lutein and zeaxanthin) can protect vision and boost thinking skills in children aged 5 to 12 who spend at least 4 hours a day on digital devices. Over 6 months, 60 kids took either the supplement or a placebo. Researchers measured changes in eye health, visual processing speed, and contrast sensitivity to see if the supplement helps counteract the effects of heavy screen use.
