New vaccine strategy tested to protect lupus patients from dangerous pneumonia
NCT ID NCT00611663
Summary
This study tested two different vaccination approaches to prevent serious pneumococcal infections in people with lupus. Researchers compared giving two different vaccines in sequence versus giving just one standard vaccine to see which provides better immune protection. The trial involved 47 lupus patients who were taking medications that weaken their immune systems, making them more vulnerable to infections.
