Study tests if personalized breathing machine settings can protect lungs during surgery

NCT ID NCT06608602

Summary

This study aimed to find out if adjusting the amount of air a breathing machine delivers during chest surgery based on a patient's actual lung capacity is better than using a standard formula based on body weight. Researchers observed 140 patients undergoing chest surgery to see which method led to better oxygen levels during the operation and fewer lung problems afterward. The goal was to gather information to help improve patient safety during these procedures.
