New ventilation method aims to shield heart in severe pneumonia patients

Summary

This study tests whether a special breathing machine strategy, guided by lung pressure measurements, can better protect the right side of the heart in patients with severe pneumonia and lung injury (ARDS). About 180 adults on breathing machines will be enrolled. The goal is to see if this approach reduces heart complications compared to standard care.
