Inhaled therapy tested to fight lung transplant rejection

NCT ID NCT03656926

Summary

This study tested whether adding an inhaled form of the drug cyclosporine (L-CsA) to standard care could better preserve lung function in adults who had received a double lung transplant and developed chronic rejection (CLAD-BOS). 169 participants were randomly assigned to receive either the inhaled medication plus standard care or standard care alone for 48 weeks. The main goal was to see if the added treatment could slow the decline in how much air a person can forcefully exhale in one second (FEV1).
