New MRI scan could spot transplant rejection before symptoms appear

NCT ID NCT04941573

Summary

This study tested a special type of MRI scan using inhaled xenon gas to detect early signs of lung transplant rejection. Researchers compared scans from 70 lung transplant patients (including 20 with known rejection) with scans from 10 healthy volunteers and 10 COPD patients. The goal was to see if this imaging method could identify rejection problems earlier than current tests, potentially allowing for quicker treatment.
