New biopsy tool could improve rejection detection in lung transplants

NCT ID NCT06824402

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study compares a new miniature cryoprobe with standard biopsy forceps to see which method better detects rejection in lung transplant recipients. About 100 participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two biopsy methods. The goal is to find which technique provides higher quality tissue samples, helps pathologists feel more confident in ruling out rejection, and takes less time. Results may improve how doctors monitor lung transplant health.
