Do new lungs forget how to breathe? ICU study investigates
NCT ID NCT07280611
Summary
This study aims to understand if a basic, automatic breathing reflex is changed or lost in people who have received a double lung transplant. Researchers will compare 22 ICU patients after a lung transplant to patients after other major surgeries. They will measure the reflex while patients are on a breathing machine at two different pressure settings to see how it works.
