Doctors probe hidden heart risk in common lung surgery

NCT ID NCT07302243

Summary

This study aimed to understand if a special anesthesia technique used during chest surgery, where only one lung is ventilated, causes stress or injury to the heart muscle. Researchers measured specific proteins in the blood (troponins) before and after surgery in 39 adult patients to see if levels changed. The goal was to gather knowledge to potentially make this common surgical procedure safer in the future.
