Smart machine aims to stop lungs from failing after surgery

NCT ID NCT07477951

Summary

This study is testing whether a smart feature on an anesthesia machine can help protect lung function in older adults having laparoscopic abdominal surgery. The feature automatically helps re-expand the lungs during surgery to prevent collapse and complications. Researchers will compare this automated approach to standard breathing management to see if it improves oxygen levels after surgery and reduces lung problems.
