New DNA test aims to spot lung cancer earlier

NCT ID NCT05415670

Summary

This study tested a new method to improve the diagnosis of suspicious lung nodules found on CT scans. Researchers compared a new DNA analysis technique (called whole-genome methylation sequencing) against standard pathology on tissue samples collected during a bronchoscopy procedure. The goal was to see if the DNA test could more accurately determine whether a nodule was benign or malignant, potentially helping patients avoid unnecessary surgery.
