New lung MRI technique uses safe gas to see inside lungs

NCT ID NCT07305532

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study aims to improve lung MRI by having healthy volunteers inhale a harmless gas (perfluoropropane) and then scanning them. Researchers will test new imaging methods and hardware to get clearer, more detailed pictures of the lungs. The goal is to make lung MRI better for future patients, not to treat any disease. About 200 healthy adults aged 18 to 85 will participate.
