First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests a safe, radiation-free MRI technique to see inside the lungs of children with protracted bacterial bronchitis (a long-lasting wet cough). Children breathe in a special gas (xenon) that shows where mucus blocks the airways. The goal is to find a better way to diagnose and monitor the disease, so kids can get the right treatment sooner and avoid heavy antibiotic use. The study involves 30 children aged 5 to 17 who are already scheduled for a bronchoscopy.
