Scientists search for clue to deadly lung swelling

NCT ID NCT07434908

Summary

This study aims to understand if a protein in the blood called Heparin-binding Protein (HBP) is linked to fluid leaking into the lungs of critically ill patients. Researchers will observe 25 adult ICU patients who are already being monitored with a special heart and lung device. They will collect blood samples and device readings to see if higher HBP levels correlate with more lung fluid, which could help doctors understand this condition better in the future.
