New lung surgery gives hope to COPD patients failed by standard treatment

Summary

This study tests a surgery to complete the fissures (natural separations) between lung lobes in people with severe emphysema or COPD. It is for patients who did not improve after a less invasive valve treatment. The surgery aims to reduce air leaks and improve breathing. About 20 adults aged 40-75 will take part.
